Assesment and completion:
Students' knowledge is assessed by means of practical exercises and seminar papers, and also via products, projects, performances, services, etc. and by examinations. Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Progress:

In order to progress from the first to the second year, students must have completed all course units prescribed by the curriculum and individual syllabuses for the first year, for a total of 30 credits. Students may only enrol in the second year if they have also completed all prescribed course units in the other selected stream, for a total of 30 credits. Students must therefore complete 60 credits in order to progress to the second year. In order to progress to the third year, students must have completed all course units prescribed by the curriculum and individual syllabuses for the second year, for a total of 30 credits. Students may only enrol in the third year if they have also completed all prescribed course units in the other selected stream, for a total of 30 credits. In order to progress to the third year students must therefore have completed prescribed course units in German language and literature totalling 60 credits and a total of 120 credits across the two programmes.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

In order to complete the programme, students must complete all course units prescribed by the study programme and the syllabuses of individual subjects, for a total of 90 credits. The overall programme is only completed when students have completed all course units in both chosen disciplines, as laid down by the study programmes and syllabuses of individual subjects, for a total of 180 credits.
