  • a completed professional higher education programme, adopted before 11 June 2004, in a humanities or social sciences field, if prior to enrolment the candidate has completed course units essential for further study consisting of 12 credits; or
  • a completed professional higher education programme, adopted before 11 June 2004, in a natural sciences field, if prior to enrolment the candidate has completed course units essential for further study, for a total of 15 credits; or
  • a completed academic higher education programme, adopted before 11 June 2004, in the field of German; as a rule 60 credits are recognised for these candidates on enrolment (30 credits in each half of the two-subject programme); or
  • a completed academic higher education programme, adopted before 11 June 2004, in a humanities or social sciences field; up to 21 credits in the proposed part of the two-subject programme are recognised for these candidates on enrolment, along with a specific number in the other part of the two-subject programme; or

  • demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the basics of intercultural Germanic studies with a focus on German language and literature,
  • demonstrate knowledge of and apply research procedures appropriate for intercultural research,
  • demonstrate in-depth knowledge of and identify the specific features of the role of language and literature in popular culture,
  • create texts of various types in everyday use, in connection with knowledge and understanding of contrastive textology,
  • create various types of oral texts in connection with knowledge and understanding of discourse analysis,
  • demonstrate in-depth knowledge and understanding of the following fields of literature in intercultural dialogue: regional elements in contact areas, transculturalism in twentieth-century German literature, and interculturalism from the point of view of literary science,
  • demonstrate understanding of practical examples and phenomena of multilingualism and language contact and study them,
  • demonstrate in-depth knowledge and understanding of the field of lexicography from the point of view of interculturalism, and of interculturalism in professional communication,
  • demonstrate insight into the work of various institutions, and also of businesses and organisations in the fields of administration and culture, and gain first work experience,
  • demonstrate knowledge of the rudiments of Hungarian language and culture or demonstrate knowledge of the problems of Slovene dialects in border areas and the phenomena of interculturalism in the Slovene literary environment.

Assesment and completion:
Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Progress:

In order to progress to the second year, students must have completed at least 21 credits from the study programme and the number of credits envisaged by the other chosen subject in the two-subject study programme.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

In order to complete a two-subject study programme, students must complete all course units prescribed by the programme in both parts of the two-subject study programme for a total of at least 120 credits (60 credits in each part of the two-subject study programme).
