The qualification holder will be able to:

(general competences)

• carry out independent, responsible and creative work in the profession,
• correctly use legal resources (laws, decrees, international acts, directives, implementing regulations, court decisions, autonomous sources of law, etc.), depending on the content of a specific relationship,
• adopts decisions when formulating and resolving disputes in connection with these relationships,
• communicate effectively orally and in writing on legal subjects,
• demonstrate knowledge of the system, competences and functioning of the institutions of justice and the State administration,
• analyse comparative legal resources,
• think critically and demonstrate a critical attitude to various developments in society,
• carry out research,
• use computerised legal databases effectively when searching for legal resources and case law,

(subject-specific competences)

• transfer theoretical knowledge into practice when addressing legal questions,
• demonstrate knowledge of the theory of the state and the law, the legal system and institutions in the Republic of Slovenia and the EU,
• use legal resources correctly with regard to the rules of argument such as "a special law takes precedence over a general law", "a later law applies before an earlier law", analogous use of rules, etc.,
• make a high-quality presentation of the system of organisation of the State and the EU to users of the law,
• demonstrate understanding of the functioning and relationships between EU institutions, which means knowledge of competences in the exercising of rights,
• demonstrate knowledge of the relationship of the EC and EU law to national law, which means the hierarchy of legal resources, etc.,
• demonstrate knowledge of the system of civil material law as a set of different legal disciplines (material law, inheritance law, law of obligations, family law, etc.) and civil procedural law,
• prepare a tender, a statement on the receipt of a tender, an invitation to tender, a public auction announcement; draw up a contract; fill out a bill of exchange; draw up damages claims, etc.
• prepare a land register motion, review and assess land register status, demonstrate knowledge of the procedure for regulating land parcel boundaries, etc.,
• draw up a will, identify an urgent hereditary claim, etc.,
• prepare simple actions and complaints, answers to a complaint, preliminary applications, etc.,
• demonstrate knowledge of economic law as a system of rules regulating the status of economic operators and economic transactions,
• prepare a draft founding act of a company, a registration of establishment, changes to or winding-up of an economic operator, etc.,
• prepare a draft proposal for the initiation of bankruptcy proceedings, liquidation, compulsory settlement, etc.,
• resolve issues in the field of competition law,
• register industrial property rights (for example draw up an application for the registration of a trademark and service mark),
• demonstrate understanding of the rules of the securities market,
• draw up a commercial contract, fill out a bill of exchange, etc.,
• demonstrate knowledge of criminal law in the institutional, material law and procedural senses,
• prepare a criminal report, a private action, a damages claim for an injured party, etc.,
• demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the legal attributes of individual criminal offences,
• demonstrate knowledge of labour law and social security,
• draw up an employment contract and other acts, implement disciplinary proceedings, participate in trade unions, etc.,
• demonstrate knowledge of the procedure for exercising rights to social care, healthcare and pension protection and the drawing up of legal acts in this connection, etc.,
• demonstrate knowledge of the system of public administration and administrative law, including administrative procedures,
• demonstrate knowledge of central records and the procedure for obtaining extracts from these records,
• draw up an application for a construction permit, demonstrate understanding of the importance of location information, etc.,
• demonstrate knowledge of international public law as a set of rules governing relations between states, and knowledge of the role, system of functioning and structure of international organisations (e.g. the UN),
• demonstrate familiarity with foreign legal terminology,
• draw up a contract, application, tender or other documents in a foreign language.
