Into the programme can enroll anyone who:

  • passed the matura,
  • has passed the vocational matura in any secondary school programm and the examination in one of the matura subjects: art history, art theory, history, philosophy, psychology or sociology; the chosen subject may not be a subject that the candidate has already passed at the vocational matura,
  • has completed any four-year high school program before 1.6. 1995.

All candidates must pass the aptitude test, which is conducted and assessed according to the Rules on the Talent Test of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design and the rules of the Enrollment Commission of the University of Ljubljana, published in the annual Tender of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology.

  • ability to implement the results of acquired knowledge in the planning and implementation of conservation and restoration interventions on cultural heritage,

  • knowledge and use of art and technological knowledge for the realization of the appropriate restoration process on the work of art,
  • ability to include interdisciplinary research work and implementation of consensual presentation solutions,
  • understanding the organizational elements of studio and field interventions by implementing safety and environmental obligations and rationalization,
  • ability to master computer science and modern media forms in the planning and implementation of interventions, research work, documentation and use of information resources,
  • ability to independently use information resources and continuous self-education in a given field.

Assesment and completion:

Students' knowledge is assessed by means of practical exercises and seminar papers, and also via products, projects, performances, services, etc. and by examinations. Examination performance is scored as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10). 

Progress:

To progress to the next  year, students must have a confirmed previous year with frequencies from all subjects, completed internships and the following number of ECTS credits:

for progression to the second year at least 51 ECTS credits,
for progression to the third year 60 ECTS of the first year and at least 54 ECTS according to ECTS of the second year.

The ALUO Study Commission may exceptionally approve a student's promotion to a higher year if he / she has achieved at least 42 ECTS credits in the previous year, if he / she has justifiable reasons for this. These are listed in the Statute of the University of Ljubljana.
