The following candidates can enrolled in the second level study programmme Painting:

a creator in the field of painting and fine arts and other and contemporary art practices (film, video, animation, costume design, scenography, graphics, graphic design and other design, new media and other contemporary visual practices), who completed:

  • a first-cycle study programme in relevant professional fields (180 ECTS) and the missing year
  • a first-cycle study programme in relevant professional fields (240 ECTS)
  • a first-cycle study programme from other professional fields (180 ECTS) and the missing year, as well as study obligations that are essential for continuing studies.
  • a first-cycle study programme from other professional fields (240 ECTS) and study obligations that are essential for continuing studies.
  • an undergraduate study programme in relevant fields of art, adopted before 2004
  • an undergraduate study programme from other fields, adopted before 2004 and study obligations that are essential for continuing studies.

  • a test of artistic talent.

The test of artistic talent is performed when the candidate successfully presents the portfolio, successfully passes the admission interview and successfully presents the topic of the art project.
The conditions for enrollment are also met by candidates who have completed the above-mentioned equivalent education abroad and passed a test of special talent for the second-cycle master's degree at the School of Drawing and Painting. They enroll under the same conditions as apply to candidates who have completed their education in Slovenia.

The qualification holder will be able to:

General competences:

  • qualification for independent and sensitive art-creative and art-professional activity in the field of visual arts, especially painting
  • ability to perform work independently in professions where specific artistic knowledge is expected
  • connecting one's own art with other creative fields, especially by including special art practices, such as 3-D art objects, collage, decollage, assemblage, installations, art intervention, conceptual art, happening, performance in any Euclidean or non-Euclidean space
  • use and ability to use all possible resources to achieve the set art tasks
  • communication and understanding with subjects that are necessary for the presentation of an artistic idea to the wider society (galleries, museums, exhibition halls, cultural institutions, media and public information institutions)
  • communication skills in the profession and between related professions
  • criticality and self-criticism while understanding the artwork of others and one's own work
  • developed ethical attitude, care for the environment
  • solving special and demanding professional and artistic problems and responsibility in the process of solving problems
  • developed communication skills in the domestic and international environment

  • bold, subtle and innovative creation with constant focus on the future

Assesment and completion:

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

The condition for enrollment in the second semester of the second level study is the successfully completed obligations from the first semester in the amount of 30 ECTS.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

To complete the second level study, the student must complete:

  • all obligations set by the study programme and curricula of subjects in the amount of 60 ECTS,
  • the student must prepare and successfully defend a master's thesis (30 ECTS). The master's thesis is publicly presented to a three-member Commission for the Defense of the Master's Thesis, namely:
    • presents and defends the Art and Art Project, which he applied for and presented at the time of enrollment,
    • presents and defends a theoretical master's thesis.
