Enrolment in the second-cycle study programme Theatre and Radio Directing is open to candidates who have completed:

  • A first-cycle study programme in the following fields: Theatre Directing and Radio Directing, Stage Acting, Dramaturgy and Film and Television Directing, or
  • A first-cycle study programme in other specialist fields, if prior to enrolment they have fulfilled study requirements essential for the continuation of the studies; these requirements are determined according to different specialist fields of study and total from 10 to up to 60 credits. Candidates are eligible to fulfil them during their first-cycle study programme, in the course of supplementary study programmes or by passing examinations prior to their enrolment in the second-cycle study programme, which is decided on by the Senate of the Academy; or
  • An equivalent education abroad, or
  • All requirements stated in the point 1, or point 2, or point 3, and a test of artistic talent in the form of conversation (the grade of success consists of the following formula: the test: 90%, the average grade in the first-cycle, or undergraduate, study programme: 10%). The test of artistic talent consists of a synopsis of a suggested project (submitted by candidates in advance), a CV focusing on the practical experience, and an interview carried out before the expert panel.

The test of artistic talent is valid only for the current academic year and may be repeated up to three times.

Subject-specific competences:

  • demonstrate in-depth professional and artistic knowledge in the field of theatre and radio directing,
  • recognise various modern theatre and radio (acting and directing) methods and systems, in which they are enabled to establish new ones and develop own method of work,
  • think in a “theatre and radio” manner which envisages formal conceptualisation of a “radical thought”, meaning that they understand the field as a physical realisation of an idea, or thought, that communicates with the interested public,
  • form a “directorial concept”, a realisation plan of an idea or text for setting up in a space,
  • direct authorial co-workers (set designer, costume designer, dramaturge, composer, sound designer and others) in their common authorial idea in line with the directing concept for the stage-setting in a specific project,
  • organise and understand theatre and radio processes in a broader production scheme of a professional theatre (relationship towards the audience, specific institutions and its services, promotion and strategy of selling/post-production of a production),
  • cooperate with an actor more closely and intensively, and if need be through the visualisations techniques, and include foreign material, or creative material of other authors in to the production tissue,
  • apply relevant theatrical practices according to their own concept; show readiness to research and use new and original own ideas,
  • demonstrate familiarity with a wide variety of sound creation spheres according to the creative and technological process,
  • demonstrate knowledge in the field of new digital shooting and production technologies,
  • demonstrate familiarity with inter-technological connections (creation in the field of interactive art radiotelephony, acoustic art in online environment ...),
  • enhance their knowledge of acting artistic expression possibilities in sound performance,
  • demonstrate knowledge in the field of synchronisation of foreign-language feature and animated films. Graduates in the stream Radio Directing will have additional knowledge for professional synchronisation of foreign-language films and animated films, and will, with their specialist knowledge significantly contribute to a higher professionalism and quality of synchronisations in public media and released sound media.

Assesment and completion:

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Progress:

The programme lasts one year therefore there are no conditions for progression.

In order to repeat the year, students must have completed the course units prescribed by the curriculum and syllabuses for the first year, for a total of 30 credits.

In order to complete the second-cycle university study programme Theatre and Radio Directing, students must complete all course units prescribed by the study programme and subject syllabuses, for a total of 60 credits.
