- undertake autonomous learning and study,
- think analytically and synthetically, which is important for comprehension of written and oral specialist texts in the other language/the foreign language,
- demonstrate mastery of the research methods of interlingual studies and translation studies,
- combine the methodology of intercultural studies and translation studies with the methodology of another field in order to obtain new research results.
- critically evaluate own and others' research achievements in Hungarian and Slovene language, Hungarian literature and the intercultural components on which both are based,
- develop communication skills for tolerant and appropriate specialised discourse in Hungarian,
- participate constructively in teamwork and participate in work involving different teams,
- develop the principle of autonomy and interconnection in own professional work,
- apply knowledge in practice, for example presentations or business correspondence in Hungarian,

- demonstrate proficiency in both Hungarian and Slovene orthography and orthoepy,

- demonstrate understanding of word-formational, interlexemic and phraseological relationships in Hungarian and Slovene from the point of view of new theoretical approaches in linguistics,
- demonstrate knowledge of older and modern currents in Hungarian and Slovene literature,
- autonomously keep abreast of current linguistic and literary phenomena and place them in the context of already acquired knowledge of both languages,
- contrastively analyse texts and phenomena on the basis of already acquired knowledge of the above fields from an intercultural perspective,
- translate less complex texts from Slovene to Hungarian on the basis of the functional approach,
- translate texts of medium difficulty from various fields from Hungarian to Slovene on the basis of the functional approach and the expressive approach,
- justify possible translations in the Hungarian-Slovene language pair from the point of view of theoretical models in translation studies,
- find and use parallel texts,
- prepare alternative translations,
- demonstrate knowledge of the basic techniques of consecutive, simultaneous and whispered interpreting,
- demonstrate knowledge of note-taking technique for consecutive interpreting,
- undertake consecutive, simultaneous and whispered interpreting of less complex texts,
- create glossaries,
- use electronic aids and manuals.
In order to progress to the second year, students must have completed at least 24 credits from the proposed study programme and a specific number of credits envisaged by the other part of the two-subject study programme. In order to progress to the third year, students must have completed at least 24 credits from the proposed study programme and a specific number of credits envisaged by the other part of the two-subject study programme, and have passed all first-year examinations.
