  • Education at least at SQF level 6 of any field and Police officer education at SQF level 5 or having completed the Training Program for police officers for the protection of the external border of the European Union and preparation for the examination for the exercise of police powers and having passed the Examination for the exercise of police powers and 3 years of work experience in performing assignments, which the candidate proves with authentic documents (extract from personnel records, reports on work performed with the signature of the responsible person, contracts, etc.), which show the time and content of the work performed, or
  • Police officer education at SQFlevel 5 and 3 years of work experience in the performance of tasks, which the candidate proves with authentic documents (extract from personnel records, reports on work performed with the signature of the responsible person, contracts, etc.), which show the time and content of the work performed works or
  • education at least at SQF level 5 of any field and completed the Training Program for Police Workers for the Protection of the External Border of the European Union and Preparation for the Examination for the Exercise of Police Powers and passed the Examination for the Exercise of Police Powers and 5 years of work experience in the performance of tasks, which the candidate proves with credible documents (extract from personnel records, reports on work performed with the signature of the responsible person, contracts, etc.), which show the time and content of the work performed, or
  • education at least at SQF level 5 of any field and passed the Criminalistics course or passed the Exam for the exercise of police powers, and 7 years of work experience in performing tasks in positions for which the profession of a police officer is required (at SQF level 5 or SQF 6), which the candidate can demonstrate with authentic documents (extract from personnel records, reports on the work performed with the signature of the responsible person, contracts, etc.), which show the time and content of the work performed.

Learning outcomes:

Candidates:

  • plans, prepares, executes own work and the work of others and controls the work of others
  • uses energy, material and time rationally
  • protects health and the environment and is responsible for his own safety and the safety of colleagues when performing tasks and persons in police procedures
  • protects and respects human rights and freedoms and makes independent decisions in official actions, while at the same time taking into account the rules of the profession, ethical principles and human dignity
  • manages police procedures independently and is responsible for the quality of the work performed and the work of others in the performance of a joint task, which leads to the completion of the procedure
  • communicates with colleagues, clients, representatives of organizations, bodies and civil society in Slovenian and at least one foreign language
  • protects life, personal safety and property of people and maintains public order
  • prevents, detects and investigates crimes and misdemeanors, discovers and apprehends perpetrators of crimes and misdemeanors, and conducts misdemeanor proceedings
  • controls and regulates traffic on public roads and uncategorized roads that are put to use for public traffic
  • carries out state border control and tasks related to the movement and residence of foreigners
  • protects certain persons, premises, facilities and facilities' surroundings
  • processes secret and personal data and other protected data of the police
  • uses modern information and communication technology in the planning and implementation of work tasks
  • implements preventive measures and activities and advises citizens
  • performs police powers professionally, legally and efficiently
  • monitors the development of the profession and transfers knowledge to the working environment

Evaluator:

Verification and assessment are carried out by committees for the verification and validation of national vocational qualifications, appointed by the National Examination Centre (NEC). Committee members must be licensed by the National Examination Centre. Licences may be found here.

Assesment and completion:

VALIDATION

During the guidance process the candidate prepares a portfolio,  which is assessed by a committee. If the portfolio submitted by the candidate contains  authentic, valid and adequate proof of the knowledge,  skills and competences defined in the occupational standard, the committee may:

  • validate the contents of the occupational standard in full,  
  • validate the contents of the occupational standard in part and define the  knowledge, skills and competence to be verified,  
  • refuse to validate any of the contents of the occupational standard because  the candidate has not provided proof of any of the knowledge, skills and competences  defined in the occupational standard, in which case it will verify  the occupational standard in full.  

METHOD OF VERIFICATION

  • Oral verification
  • Practical verification with an oral presentation.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

Candidates demonstrate attainment of the knowledge, skills and competences defined in the catalogue of standards of vocational knowledge and skills.

Awarding body:

Providers of procedures for identifying and validating NVQs are entered in a register of providers maintained in the collection of the national information centre for vocational qualifications. These are: vocational schools, businesses, B2B training centres, adult education centres and chambers of commerce.
