Admission requirements Entry conditions:
  • A successfully passed special aptitude test consisting of an admission interview with a presentation of the candidate's work (portfolio) in the field of painting or its subdisciplines (painting, printmaking, video and new media) and the submission of a two-page written plan of work for the second cycle;
  • and: 
    • a) a completed first-cycle study programme in painting, printmaking, new media, sculpture, fine arts; or 
    • b) a completed first-cycle study programme in another field; if necessary, before enrolling in the second-cycle study programme the candidate must complete course units essential for further study, as defined by the individual departmental committee (from 10 to a maximum 60 credits); or
    • c) a completed professional higher education programme adopted before the 2004 ZViS, if prior to enrolment in the second-cycle programme the candidate completes course units essential for further study totalling 10 to 60 credits.

Under the conditions for enrollment as set out in points b) and c), the differential subjects / examinations are determined individually according to the diversity of the professional field and according to the candidate's professional and work experience.

The conditions for enrollment are also met by candidates who have completed equivalent education, as stated in points a) to c) abroad, passed the test of special aptitude for the second-cycle master's degree at ALUO UL. They enroll under the same conditions as apply to candidates who have completed their education in Slovenia

Assesment and completion:

Examination performance is scored as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Progress:

In order to progress to the second year, students must have completed all course units prescribed by the curriculum and individual syllabuses for the first year, for a total of 56 credits.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

To complete the second-cycle study, the candidate must complete all the obligations set out in the study programme and curricula of the subjects prescribed in the chosen field, in the total amount of 120 ECTS. The student must prepare and defend a master's thesis (30 ECTS).
The study ends with a successful public defense of a positively assessed master's thesis before at least a three-member commission, in which the mentor is one of the members.
