The following candidates can enroll in the first year of the master's program "Alternative Dispute Resolution":

  • who has completed a first-cycle study programme in the relevant professional fields (Social Sciences (31) and Law (38);
  • who has completed a first-cycle study programme in other professional fields (Humanities (22) and Business and Administrative Sciences (34)) and achieved at least 180 ECTS credits and completed additional study obligations in the amount of 14 ECTS credits. Candidates can complete additional study obligations during their studies at the first-cycle or by taking exams before enrolling in a master's degree, namely in the subjects Law (8 ECTS) and Peaceful Dispute Resolution (6 ECTS);
  • who has completed a first-cycle study programme in other professional fields (all other ISCED fields) and achieved at least 180 ECTS credits and completed additional study obligations in the amount of 18 ECTS credits. Candidates can complete additional study obligations during their studies at the first-cycle or by taking exams before enrolling in a master's degree, namely in the subjects Law (8 ECTS), Peaceful Dispute Resolution (6 ECTS) and Mediation and Arbitration - Alternative Dispute Resolution (4 ECTS) ;
  • who has completed a study programme for the acquisition of professional higher education in the relevant professional fields (Social Sciences (31) and Law (38), adopted from 1.1.1994 to 11.6.2004);
  • who has completed a study programme for the acquisition of professional higher education in other professional fields (Humanities (22) and Business and Administrative Sciences (34)), accepted from 1.1.1994 to 11.6.2004, and completed additional study obligations in the amount of 14 credit points after ECTS. Candidates can complete additional study obligations during their studies at the 1st level or by taking exams before enrolling in a master's degree, namely in the subjects Law (8 ECTS) and Peaceful Dispute Resolution (6 ECTS);
  • who has completed a study programme for the acquisition of professional higher education in other professional fields (all other ISCED fields), accepted from 1.1.1994 to 11.6.2004 and completed additional study obligations in the amount of 18 ECTS credits. Candidates can complete additional study obligations during their studies at the first-cycle or by taking exams before enrolling in a master's degree, namely in the subjects Law (8 ECTS), Peaceful Dispute Resolution (6 ECTS) and Mediation and Arbitration - Alternative Dispute Resolution (4 ECTS) .

Those who have completed equivalent education abroad also meet the conditions for enrollment.

  • ability to analyze, synthesize and predict solutions and consequences of phenomena in the field of conflict and conflict resolution,
  • mastering research methods, procedures and processes in the field of social sciences and developing critical and self-critical judgment in the field of social sciences,
  • ability to use knowledge in the field of conflict, conflict and dispute resolution, alternative dispute resolution procedures, mediation, arbitration and negotiation,
  • autonomy in professional work and business decision-making,
  • development of communication skills with emphasis on communication in the international environment,
  • ethical reflection and commitment to professional ethics in the business environment,
  • collegiality towards colleagues and loyalty to employers and cooperation, group work and tolerant acceptance and consideration of constructive criticism and comments,
  • as part of the postgraduate study "Alternative Dispute Resolution", law students would also have the opportunity to acquire knowledge in the field of psychology, cultural studies, anthropology, and social work; students of other social sciences would also gain knowledge in the field of law and the dispute itself.

  • gaining the ability to understand the importance of the national multicultural image in the world and Europe and to manage cultural differences and national dilemmas in resolving disputes,
  • knowledge and understanding of the history of the development of legal sciences and other sciences in the interdisciplinary field of dispute resolution,
  • ability to place new information and interpretations in the context of the development of the field in the field of dispute resolution,
  • development of skills in the application of knowledge in the field of dispute resolution,
  • use of information and communication technology and systems,
  • understanding and mastering legal knowledge that is closely related to the field of conflict resolution and negotiations in various fields (judicial settlement of disputes, settlement of disputes before the courts of the Council of Europe, settlement of civil, commercial, labor disputes, commercial arbitration)
  • understanding the concept of dispute resolution in terms of the connection between the social sciences and humanities (skills of negotiators and mediators, case studies and role-playing with regard to personality development),
  • ability to analyze, synthesize and predict solutions and consequences of phenomena in the context of international dispute resolution,
  • ability to use dispute resolution techniques and methods,
  • ability to coherently master complex knowledge from the legal and psychological-social field,
  • the ability to use analytical methods and, on this basis, legal strategies with the constant use of professional and morally ethical critical judgment of solutions.

Assesment and completion:

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

Progress:

A student who has completed all the obligations determined by the study programme for progression to the higher year by the end of the academic year or has achieved at least 42 credit points in successfully passing the exams in the subjects of the year in which he is enrolled may progress from the lower to the higher year and passed all assigned differential examinations.

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

In order to obtain the professional title of Master of Alternative Dispute Resolution, candidates must complete the following study obligations:

  • Complete the study obligations of fifteen subjects (or the equivalent of 90 ECTS).
  • Perform scientific research work (or equivalent to 10 ECTS)
  • Prepare and successfully defend a master's thesis in accordance with the provisions of the rules of the Faculty (20 ECTS).
