Learning outcomes:

The holder of the certificate is qualified to:

  • carve using hand tools and polish surfaces and profiles;
  • work with cutting machines, prepare the surface and profile and the special processing of natural stone;
  • make ornaments, gravestones and interior design elements made of natural stone;
  • install cobbles, window shelves, stairs, external and internal panels made of natural stone; 
  • rationally use energy, material and time;
  • use technical documentation to make masonry products and perform masonry services;
  • comply with health, safety at work and environmental protection principles;
  • implement rehabilitation works and protect stone elements. 

Optional: 

  • make and set up panels, disassemble panel constructions and maintain and store panelling elements.
  • perform basic stonemasonry activities by hand.
  • build using all basic types of bricks and blocks. 
  • apply interior and exterior plasters by hand or with a machine.
  • prepare surfaces and material and do ceramic tiling on simple interior and exterior surfaces and grout tiled surfaces.
  • perform transport by forklift.
  • install reinforcement in simple constructions and prepare and use mixtures for concrete and reinforced concrete. 

In addition, the holder of the certificate also upgraded his/her key professional skills and competences with key general knowledge and skills in line with national standards. 

 

Assesment and completion:

Students' vocational abilities and skills, and the fulfilment of conditions to obtain credits in accordance with the relevant education programme are established through verification and assessment. Assessment of students also takes into account non-formally acquired knowledge, which must be adequately demonstrated. Students are assessed using grades from 5 (excellent) to 1 (inadequate).

Progress:

A student/apprentice who, at the end of the school year, is positively evaluated in all general education subjects and professional modules of the year of the school's implementation curriculum, and who has completed all the obligations of other forms of educational work (active citizenship and extracurricular activities) and practical training through work placement at the employer.

Progression:

Secondary technical, vocational or vocational-technical education; master craftsman/foreman/shop manager examination (SQF level 5).

Conditions for obtaining a public document:

In order to complete the education and obtain the qualification, the student/apprentice must successfully pass with positive grades:

  • general education subjects,
  • mandatory professional modules,
  • one of the optional professional modules,
  • open part of the open curriculum.

In addition, he/she must complete:

  • other forms of extracurricular activities (active citizenship and interest activities),
  • obligations in practical training  through work placement,
  • intermediate test (applies to apprentice form of education and students with an individual learning contract in the school form of education),
  • final exam.

The final exam includes:

  • written and oral examination of Slovenian language,
  • presenting and defending a service

Awarding body:

Vocational and technical secondary schools and adult education institutions.
