Qualification holders are qualified to:

- demonstrate knowledge of and analyse and evaluate findings in sociology and the wider social sciences,
- show insight into contemporary and past sociocultural processes,
- observe and synthesise knowledge,
- demonstrate initiative in the accumulation of knowledge (resources),
- undertake self-criticism and recognise the importance of lifelong learning,
- critically assess information sources of various types,
- undertake effective research at a high level of complexity, both quantitatively and qualitatively,
- use information technology and work in IT,
- express their own opinion, contextualised as part of broader intellectual findings in the social sciences,
- resolve conflicts through analysis of social contexts,
- express themselves effectively in writing (by writing articles, papers, etc.) and orally (through presentations, lectures, etc.),
- apply social science knowledge to real professional problems,
- demonstrate a commitment to professional ethics,

- demonstrate in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of sociology and the social sciences and formulate a theoretical basis for the analysis of social processes, dynamics and changes,
- demonstrate mastery of the knowledge necessary for the holistic addressing of concrete social problems at the local, national and international levels through the application of research methods and approaches,
- demonstrate mastery of the knowledge necessary for the analysis and critical evaluation of statistical data, carry out complex statistical analyses and apply findings in specific areas of work,
- demonstrate a general interdisciplinary social science perspective based on a synthesis of various fields of knowledge,
- demonstrate knowledge of and apply the modern, complex, theoretical and practical research approaches, methods and tools that are in use within the field of the social sciences and apply this knowledge and practice according to the criterion of its effectiveness and suitability,
- demonstrate mastery of the knowledge that enables a response to challenges and needs from the direct and wider social environment,
- demonstrate mastery of the knowledge necessary for analysis of specific sociological categories and reflection on these in guided discussions and in written form,
- evaluate the compatibility of theoretical concepts and life processes,
- demonstrate the knowledge necessary for the planning and implementation of quantitative and qualitative research,
- demonstrate knowledge of the effective application of information and communication technologies for work in the sociological and broader social science context,
- cooperate with other professional profiles (economists, lawyers, etc.).
Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).
In order to progress from the first year to the second year, students must complete 60 credits; in order to progress from the second year to the third year, they must likewise complete 60 credits.
In order to successfully complete the programme, students must complete all course units, for a total of 180 credits. Students must therefore pass all examinations prescribed by the third-cycle study programme in Sociology, and write and successfully defend a doctoral dissertation.
