- master research methods and procedures using various analytical and prognostic tools,

- demonstrate general and theoretical knowledge that enables an advanced understanding of various aspects of regional and local economic and social development and its planning,
- have an integrated and systematic insight into economic, legal, technological, sociological and ecological aspects of development,
- demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding of basic theories of economic and social development and knowledge of methods and techniques of planning regional/local economic development and planning,
- apply modern expert findings and approaches as a basis in solving practical problems,
- integrate different knowledge and apply an interdisciplinary approach in seeking practical solutions and solving complex tasks, demonstrate practical and effective knowledge and leadership of development projects, draw up development projects and programmes and use software tools,
- show flexibility in preparing development projects and handling changes and an interdisciplinary understanding of the cultural and developmental plurality of Slovenia and Europe,
- demonstrate familiarity with the basic principles and concepts of development in the future and plan sustainable development,
- demonstrate an orientation towards professional familiarity with and broad critical assessment of possible solutions, and towards an understanding of different aspects of modern social changes and development processes,
- create strategic economic planning of local communities and regions and develop instruments for implementing this in practice,
- take responsibility for heading the most challenging tasks that are tied narrowly to specific fields of regional and local development,
- independently apply acquired theoretical and professional knowledge to solve problems in practice in regional and spatial planning of socio-economic development.
Students progress to the second year if they have passed all first-year examinations and gained at least 40 credits, and they must have passed the following examinations: European political, economic and legal system, European civilisation and cultural values, European institutions, networks and lobbying, and Research methods and a systemic approach.
