  • a completed first-cycle study programme in any other field; prior to enrolment the candidate must complete course units essential for further study, totalling 23 ECTS credits; or
  • a completed professional higher education programme for pre-school teachers adopted before 11 June 2004; or
  • a completed professional higher education programme in any other field, adopted before 11 June 2004; prior to enrolment the candidate must complete course units essential for further study, totalling 23 ECTS credits; or
  • a completed academic higher education programme, adopted before 11 June 2004, in a relevant field (14 – Teacher training and education science); as a rule 60 ECTS credits are recognised for these candidates on enrolment; or
  • a completed professional higher education programme, adopted before 11 June 2004, and a specialist study programme, adopted before 11 June 2004, in a relevant field (14 – Teacher training and education science); as a rule 60 ECTS credits are recognised for these candidates on enrolment.

Examination performance is scored as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10). 

In order to progress to the second year, students must complete at least 48 ECTS credits from the curriculum of a single-subject study programme.

Third-cycle doctoral study programmes (SQF level 10)

Students complete their studies when they have successfully met all requirements laid down by the study programme and accumulated at least 120 ECTS credits.
