Qualification holders are qualified to:

General competences:

  • independent project work
  • knowledge of working in research groups
  • international communication in science
  • organization of longer international trips
  • preparation of international publications
  • writing international scientific papers
  • ability to think logically and abstractly and to synthesize
  • ability of independent scientific research work, organization and management of research groups
  • ability to present scientific findings in written and oral form, in Slovene and in a foreign language.
  • ability to solve problems in a team.

Subject specific competences:

  • They master the theory and methodology related to the selected module.
  • They understand territorial identities.
  • They understand migration phenomena.
  • They master modern literary-theoretical models, critically evaluate them and upgrade them with their own contributions.
  • They master the laws of (literary) translation.
  • They master literary-journalistic discourse.
  • They are capable of effective communication in all types of new media texts.

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

To progress to the second year, a student must complete study obligations in the amount of 60 ECTS credits from the first year. To progress to the third year, a student must complete study obligations in the amount of 60 ECTS credits from the second year.

A third-year student may, after all obligations from all three years, approach the defense of the doctoral dissertation.

The condition for completing the study is the completion of all exams and all obligations in all subjects according to the syllabus and the successful defense of the doctoral dissertation, for which the student collects 240 ECTS.
