The qualification holder will be able to:
- demonstrate understanding in the broader field of mechanical engineering, which in the event of them concluding their studies gives them the appropriate competences for corresponding employability, while in the event of them continuing their studies the knowledge they have acquired represents an adequate starting point for research at the postgraduate level;
- develop a capacity to critical analysis and synthesis and develop professional engineering responsibility.
With the education obtained in the broad field of mechanical engineering, which is comparable to related study programmes around Europe, graduates of the programme are capable of interdisciplinary integration of various fields.
Students' knowledge is assessed by means of practical exercises and seminar papers, and also via products, projects, performances, services, etc. and by examinations. Examination performance is scored as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).
Students may enrol in the second year if by the end of the academic year they have completed course units defined by syllabuses for a total of at least 48 credits.
Students may enrol in the third year if by the end of the academic year they have completed second-year course units defined by syllabuses for a total of at least 48 credits and all first-year course units defined by syllabuses (60 credits).
Second-cycle master's study programmes (SQF level 8)
Students complete their studies when they have successfully met all prescribed requirements of a study programme.
